Stromboli

One last self-indulgent volcano post before returning to the present. This is Stromboli, made famous by the film....Stromboli. Stromboli erupts lava bombs about very 20 minutes, these can just about be seen in this photo, above right of the crater.

It takes a few hours to climb the volcano but you can do it the easy way with a virtual walk. After making the descent there is a small beach to relax on, although the black sand does not look too inviting.

The island looks great from the air but is reached by Hydrofoil so a last look while leaving is a treat.
