Coconut

My introduction to the coconut was in the Coconut Shy (is that just a Britsh thing ?) at the local fete. This one was sitting on a deserted beach in the Caribbean, Robinson Crusoe seems more real now. For some reason the Disney movie Lt. Robin Crusoe, U.S.N. sticks in my mind, must have been a very early trip to the cinema as I don't think the film is that good.

I really like the way you have composed this photo, Jasp. It makes feel lonely. As though I'm on the last undiscovered beach in the world.

The coconut also kinda looks like a hair piece.

It is a lonely shot like Tim mentioned. The sea in the background is incredible!

i agree with Timmybomb: I also had to think of a badly maintained hairpiece, or even a part of an abandoned skull.
The waves in the background have an innocent look somehow (but only maybe with the skull-idea).

this is a great shot Jasp, you must be pleased, where was it? on our shores or on your travels? But I agree with you the Coconut Shy is a Brit thing...

Very clever framing on this one. I don't think the impact would be there if you framed this any differently. Well done.

The coconut almost has a personality in this shot!

Coconuts are indeed most wondrous things.

Have just discovered your blog via that of the lovely Ash, and am most glad I did. I also enjoyed the gunnera post - they are arresting plants.
