Retro

This was taken earlier this week, before the rain came back. I wanted to create a 50's style image so used one of the Photoshop guides (http://freephotoshopguides.com/photo-effects/retro-50s-postcard/1/) but realised what I was actually after was a Kodachrome look. Unable to find any good tips on how to achieve that so ended up with this ....

It's not that different from the original so guess I failed.

the old 50's feel looks good... but i think on balance the original may be better... we are product of our times, and the images we make are of a our time, 30+ years from now these may feel old, though digial is meant to do away with all that... who knows... just go with what you feel is right... theres no failure, just the occasional moment where it doesnt meet your own high standards...
but these are both good..

Nothing you photograph or process is ever a failure...there's a timelessnss to the first and a precious landscape to the second...
I guess we view failure differently. I think you rock LOL

The muted tones in the top one do look more aged and I like them. I'm not sure about the texture, but I like the tones.

The bottom one is vibrant and I like that as well. They are different and both are nice.

I could not agree more with all three commentators above. They are both good and it is not necessary to choose between them.
